Coaching for
Strategic Outcome
There are many different types of coaches, they all start with interest and enthusiasm for different fields. Once they identify their main interest areas they undertake an accredited coaching training course and set up in their area of expertise.
Performance coaching involves sessions with the coach using analysis and other approach to improve the performance of the client. Professional coaches are knowledgeable in dealing with any clients that may arise and are hired in many organisations to develop the talents of the employees. The more elite coaches are prime motivators and train future executives and see them through the whole process.
Types of Coaching
In order to achieve the best possible outcome it is now widely recognized that unless you are at the very top of your class, it is now necessary to have coaching in your chosen area to achieve optimal results and attain your goal.
Business Coaching
Business Coaching is now considered essential in most large organizations. For example Health Departments have implemented their own Nationally recognized Diploma of Business Management, and all Health Managers can attend 'in house' training free.
Life Coaching
Life Coaching is now a certified course, which will give the participant a Diploma on completion. It involves a 12 step coaching model, and is a short course with an introduction to the techniques of questioning and coaching and is mainly done online.
Executive Coaching
These coaches are usually clinical psychologists who understand the importance of taking your career to the next level. They work by helping the client identify what is most important to them and what is most important to their company, challenge them to be unique.
Business Coaching
The course is overseen by a team of mentors who come into the work place and spend time with the Trainee Managers, the ‘one on one’ input is very valuable in allowing the Manager to focus on any weaker points. It also identifies learning needs for the participant to focus on in the future. If the criteria are all met, including the above Compulsory lectures a Certificate is issued at the end of the year. Check out our ICF coaching certification program.
It is not mandatory yet, but highly desirable and given that it is all held in the work place it is an excellent offer, the course conducted over one year has the following elements:
- Manage personal work priorities and professional development
- Manage effective workplace relationships
- Manage operational plan
- Manage workplace information systems
- Manage quality customer service
- Facilitate continuous improvement
- Facilitate and capitalize on change and innovation
- Develop a workplace learning environment
- Ensure team effectiveness
- Manage people
- Ensure a safe workplace
Life Coaching
Life coaching certification course. Once qualified the life coach encourages and counsels the client on a range of issues without giving advice. Life coach helps the clients to work toward specific professional goals in a planned way following the clients action plan. They will mostly meet every week to progress the plan and review the goals, they are useful to many executives and also to athletes who sometimes suffer from low performance morale. This type of coaching clarifies the goal and helps the participant to move towards it.
Executive and Career Coaching
The executive coaches challenge their clients to be unique and motivate them to see different perspectives. They often can identify gaps in training needs and this helps everyone to move forward towards the goal. If they are being retained by the organization to improve the Executives’ performance there would certainly be some specific areas of work that would be earmarked for development and improvement. These gaps could be any of the following.
- Motivation
- Client engagement
- Team Work
- Leadership qualities
- Performance improvement
Once the executive coaching period has ended it would be expected that the Executive would attain a higher level of performance on appraisal. If this was not proven to be effective he/ she may be deemed not a good fit with the organization and let go. In most cases the improvements would be very positive.
Different Styles of Coaching
There are many different styles of coaching. A common type of coaching is for Educational purposes in personal exam coaching for high school students. In order to gain a good University or College place it is important for the student to get a good mark and if they have an area of weakness they will require coaching in order to attain that mark.
The ideal coach for this purpose is probably someone who has done the same course in the last few years and has a great mark and is often a University Student who has taught other people and has a good rapport with students. The coach will either come to your house or conduct the session on skype, before they start they will identify the gaps in your child’s Education and work with them in order to progress them to the final exam.
This type of coaching is used everywhere as most parents want the best for their child and as the system is highly competitive coaching will help them to get to where they want to be ( near the top of the class). Because most parents do not fully understand the curriculum the coaching is very necessary and it has been shown that the kids who have had coaching always do better in exams and get better grades as long as they are willing to be helped and to learn.
